End of break

Zazralt Magic

Jun 9, 2016

After a long winter break, I have started to work on the project again. I have mounted the lens on the printer, however, the lens is with 6kg rather heavy and the counter weights amount with 30kg quite a lot. So a lighter lens is more favourable. I have ordered a new Fresnel lens from Japan with 1.40×1.05m, which is double the area than the previous lens! It will arrive in the coming days. More to follow.

SolarBot One in the making

Zazralt Magic

Jul 29, 2015

Since I had the Fresnel lens, since quite a while laying around, finally, the mechanical and electronic parts for SolarBot One have arrived from Germany and Spain. I plugged the mechanical parts together, and the aluminium profiles are great. Though I noticed already some possible improvement. I choose 2cm thickness, which will work, but, thicker is better, probably 2.5cm. The lens mount needs some stabilisation with steel plates. And I decided to cut the Fresnel lens in half, then I can fit everything conveniently in a 1×0.5m bag for strollers. Some pictures will follow!

Now, next comes the more challenging parts: the electronics. I need to mount the steppers properly and the z-axis for the sandbox is a bit tricky one.
